Me poking FF Fables Chocobo’s Dungeon that came out 14 years ago: hey why did the dark crystal suddenly run amok spawning a guardian? The mayor says the live fish rotting was a sign of the destroyer coming but it technically hadn’t spawned yet? Did Memoria have enough bad crops 50 years ago that the dark crystal overloaded and spat the excess in the form of the Destroyer? Is the Destroyer a sort of mechanism in order to reduce the population so that less darkness is spawned and it isn’t overloaded anymore? Or does the Destroyer actually destroying is an accidental side effect of it being a darkness siphon to keep the dark crystal from overloading? The order of things could have been first massive negativity from the citizens followed by the elemental balance tipping towards darkness resulting in the land being racked by death and corruption with the final result being the excess of darkness being expulsed from the crystal in order to deal with the source of the unbalance by absorbing/destroying it.
